About Me

I graduated from Purdue University in December 2007 with a Bachelors degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering. I am currently living in Woodlawn, OH doing analysis on various types of gas-turbine aircraft engines.

I started Kendo in August of 2003 at Purdue University. My original reasoning for starting was just for me to have something to do on the side to break the monotony of going to class and studying. Little did I know that this would just be the beginning of the long road of Budo. As of now, my main dojo is the University of Cincinnati Kendo Club. I also practice at Miami Valley Kendo Dojo in Dayton, OH and Northern Kentucky Kendo Club in Covington, KY.

I also recently started studying Musou Shinden Ryu Iaido at the Northern Kentucky Kendo Club as of February 2008. I have wanted to practice it for a few years now, but being in college, proximity to the nearest dojo and money issues at the time prevented me from finding time to dedicate. At first, I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to like this since Iaido mainly consists of solo kata practice, but I have found enough things in it that I like to keep going.

I am using this blog for a variety of reasons:
  • Share my progress in Kendo and Iaido
  • Share some related, important information about certain ideas and concepts that I come across
Since I got a DSLR camera last year, I'm also posting my pictures on flickr (link on the sidebar).  Hopefully, I can improve with the pictures soon but, since I'm used to the progression curve in martial arts, I understand that it might be a while as I learn about lots of things with photography.
